Phil's Story

Phil wants every kid to feel that BALLER feeling—the pride and confidence that comes from growth, effort, and skill.

Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Phil spent his childhood immersed in sports and outdoor play. This foundation helped him develop the wide-ranging movement skills and self-belief that later led him to earn a Division I basketball scholarship to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he served as team captain his senior year.

“Watching kids build confidence and get excited by challenging themselves—mastering catches and breaking personal records—is what it’s all about. That’s the real recipe for being your own baller.”

After college, Phil began a nine-year corporate journey with Disney and ESPN, working in media sales while staying connected to his lifelong passion for sports. But the pull to work directly with kids and make a meaningful impact never left him. In 2019, he made a bold move—leaving ESPN to travel through South America and begin the next chapter: building Phil’s Drills.

Phil has since been inducted into the Toledo Area Athletic Conference Hall of Fame and is a certified Nurtured Heart Trainer, deepening his commitment to youth development.

Today, Phil partners with schools, camps, and communities across the country—empowering kids with physical literacy, confidence, and the foundational movement skills needed to thrive in sports and in life. More than anything, he’s proud to be a role model who helps kids believe in their potential and be their own baller.
